Our Staff
Mindee Meltzer, Director
Mindee becomes the Director of Camp Tevya this year after a year as Associate Director and two summers as Program Director. Mindee brings a love of Jewish camping and an extensive background in education and social work that make her well-qualified to take on this new role. She received her BA from the University of Texas, a Masters of Social Work (MSW) from Washington University in St. Louis, and a Masters in Education from Boston University.
Year-round Staff
Mindee is supported by the staff of the Cohen Camps that includes a full-time staff recruiter. Sharing a year-round office with the Directors of the other Cohen Camps (Tel Noar and Pembroke) offers a unique opportunity for all three camps to share ideas and refine best practices to our campers' great benefit.
Summer Staff
The Tevya staff prides itself on being role models and making a positive impact on our campers. Many of our staff were Tevya campers themselves. Some of our counselors come from abroad, including a contingent from Israel, which greatly enhances the camp experience.
The administrative and supervisory personnel are camping professionals and educators with many years of experience working with children.
Staff members are chosen for their experience, maturity, creativity, and sense of responsibility. Our summer staff attends a week-long Staff Orientation, in addition to individual specialty training to improve teaching skills. Ongoing training continues throughout the summer with seminars and a weekly staff meeting.
